1. Introduction & Overview

WASL Network (“WASL”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the digital platform at wasl-network.com. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy and autonomy of founders, entrepreneurs, and investors connecting across the Middle East & North Africa (MENA).

Our platform is architected on the principle of Privacy by Design. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is processed, and how our strict mutual-reveal mechanisms protect your confidential personal and startup data.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account Identification: Email address, encrypted authentication credentials, and system-generated unique identifiers.
  • Founder & Professional Profile: Full name, current job title, current company/organization, previous work experience, functional expertise, industry domain experience, and optional profile photograph.
  • Startup & Venture Attributes: Venture stage (e.g., Idea, Validation, MVP, Early Revenue), targeted problem statement, current traction metrics, co-founder expectations, and targeted partner roles.
  • Investor & Capital Preferences: Investment stage focus, ticket size, geographic thesis, and portfolio sector interest.
  • Communications & Platform Signals: Match requests, accepted partnerships, direct messaging timestamps, and investor warm-introduction submissions.
3. The Mutual-Reveal Privacy Architecture

Unlike traditional social or recruiting directories, WASL Network never exposes direct contact information publicly.

  • When exploring founders in the Scout directory, other members see your professional qualifications, venture domain, and stage compatibility.
  • Strict Masking: Your personal email address, phone number, and LinkedIn profile URL are completely masked from database queries via PostgreSQL Security Definer functions.
  • Mutual Unlock: Contact details are revealed to both founders only and strictly when both parties have mutually approved a Match Request. Neither party can unilaterally harvest contact details.

4. Third-Party Services & Infrastructure

We partner with trusted, industry-standard infrastructure providers to deliver reliable services:

  • Supabase Inc. (Database & Auth): Hosted on secure PostgreSQL clusters enforcing Row Level Security (RLS).
  • Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager: Anonymized behavioral telemetry and platform performance monitoring.
  • Compatibility Scoring Engine: Multi-factor algorithmic compatibility scores are computed securely on server actions without transmitting raw profiles to public third-party models.

* Legal Review Notice: Data processing terms regarding international cloud hosting and cross-border transfers within MENA/GCC are subject to final corporate counsel review.

5. Data Retention & Your Rights

You maintain full ownership of your data. You may review, edit, or remove profile fields and uploaded photographs at any time via your Account Profile. To request permanent deletion of your account and associated audit records, contact us at privacy@wasl-network.com.
